Flagyl is the trade name for Metronidazole. It is an antimicrobial used to eliminate protozoans. Metronidazole is a prodrug and works by interrupting the protozoan's abilty to replicate DNA. It is a dangerous drug if dosed improperly. Oral suspension is the best way to administer Metronidazole. It can be injected into food items, but absorbtion rates aren't as good that way.
