I agree with you, a 3 degree deviation is HUGE because that means there is a 6 degree gap of where the real temperature is. I could probably feel a surface and tell you a 6 degree gap that it is in.



I have a Rytech ST20 model IR gun..it has a .5 degree deviation, but you are paying for that precision. I got mine on ebay for ~$100. It is a bit of an overkill, but I use it for other applications as well in my workplace so I can justify paying that much.
