Question about breeding programs in Madagascar

I'm just curious as to whether anyone here has any knowledge/info about breeding programs in Madagascar aimed at reviving some of the endangered species there? I often watch shows like that on Discovery, about different groups of people going to a country and working with a specific animal, and it got me thinking. does anyone know what would be involved in such a trip (other than a ton of cash)?
