You certainly can "read" your babies on an individual basis...you'd be surprised how many folks take that for granted with their critters.

Unlike boas, colubrids, or practically any other snake I can think of, they don't seem to have the concept of being off the ground. Mine will anchor their tails around my hand, but they can't really coil their bodies to get a good grip on ya. They don't feel very secure hanging in the air like that, and try to get somewhere else that does feel secure. Bloods can be amazingly 'runny' snakes when they want to! What I'm getting at here (trust me, there is a point ) is that I think they get 'fussy' because they're simply uncomfortable off the ground. Both of my big bloods get squirmy (fussy) after a few minutes of being held. However, once I take a seat, both of them relax. One of my favorite pasttimes with these guys is to sit down and watch some tv with them. They seem very content to curl up in my lap, and after a while they usually slither down and do a little bit of exploring. >> >>I'm not the most elequent writer, but I think I'd sum it up like this: They aren't fussy because of a bad attitude, they're *to me* fussy because they want some something solid underneath them. >> >>Hope that helped some! >> >>Carole >>----- >>"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth >>And danced the sky on laugher-silvered wings... >>Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth >>Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things >>Wheeled and soared and swung >>High in the sunlit silence" ----- Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean
