Force feeding should be the last resort, but it is not in this case since you haven't even tried a live pinky yet. There are also MANY other tricks to use. On top of that, you should be using a scale to determine body mass loss, not by the last time it ate. Hognoses can go for a long time without food before loosing any significant weight.



Force feeding in hognoses is especially problimatic becuase their gums tend to bleed when the mouth is forced open. Some do more than others. Perhaps it is due to their autohemmoraging capabilities. But this certainly can lead to stomatitis in an already stressed snake.
