I would guess it would work. I think you have to disable the crickets though, like pull off a back leg so they can't jump out of the feeding jar.
You may need to be concerned about the toads finding them though. Some may be smarter than others.
For example, I have 4 baby american toads and when I feed them their fruitflies, 3 of them wander around aimlessly for the flies, but one has learned that if it jumps in the water dish, where some of the fruitflies get stuck, it has an easy meal. It is easily the largest, fattest toad of all 4. It's actually kind of cute...when I start to tap on the fruitfly container to get them to drop to the bottom, it hears the tapping and immediately jumps in the water bowl ready for it's incoming food. ----- alstiver@hotmail.com
