Hello folks.
I'm normally a Milksnake guy, but I do have a little Garter sharing the house with me. He's a small two year old Blue Garter. I believe he's actually quite small for two years of age, but I can't be certain as I'm more familiar with ribbons.
Anyway, today his cage was knocked from it's perch atop a larger cage by one of the housecats. A fall of about four feet. And my girlfriend came home to find the poor thing beaten and tired, but trying to withstand the playful punishment of one of the cats.
I can't find any -serious- injuries, although there are a number of small lacerations and what looks like a very minor puncture wound near the tail. His tail however, is quite discoloured, almost like there's internal bleeding. He's got some life in him yet but moves very slowly, and his tail sort of flopped around a bit when I was examining him. Also, his tongue, when he's sticking it out at all, doesn't come out as far as it should.
My girlfriend cleaned his wounds with some bactine, but other than that, I'm at a loss. Is it possible he's just exhausted and needs time to recover and heal, or are the symptoms indicitive of some more serious wounding? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
