just kidding.
The problems with my veild "mating" with the deremensis was a simple matter. They were not in cages, he was. All it took was ONE time forgetting to lock the door on his cage...
The burn happened when I first transferred him to his new cage. The wingnut was loose, so I held the lamp in place byt putting the wire in the clamp. which turned out to not work. The light swung down, and ended up on the top of his cage, instead of being a foot off. He, being a chameleon, immediatly made it a point to get as close as possible to thelight sourch, burning the hell out of him.
The URI could have eaisly been something she had as a result of being imported. Since she recovered quickly, with no meds, I never really worried.
Interesting point about the oral infection. Vitamin C defeciency makes a whole lot of sense. I try to go light on supplements, but I certainly havent been gutloading with things high in vitamin C. Kowing what scurvy does to people, I bet that is the cause, if not a part of it.
No doubt there have been mistakes made. Things like the URI, Burns, and oral infections were not due to my setup. If any of it was preventable(as it usually is) all the problems I have had(oral infections, veild escaped& interspecies "mating", burns, ) were prety much due to stupid mistakes on my part--not ignorance. except maybe the vitamin C thing....hehe.
