I had to downsize my collection--to the pair of deremensis, and one male veild. New baby coming, I'm lucky my wife has not made me give up the animal room.
I even took down half of the chameleon setups. It'll give me space to put cages for the babies if/when they hatch.
I really havent had time to care for as many aniamls as I did. I was "supposed" to get hired on permanant MONTHS ago. After which, I could stop working my second job. Not so. As a result, I have been gone from 7AM -10PM 3 days a week, and 7AM to 6PM the other two. Not nearly enough to adequatly care for as many chameleons as I had--let alone several clutches of babies, and a NEWBORN.
So, I'll have to keep things slow and steady for the next several years.
My main goal is to have kids and move to the mountains within 3 years. this is going to be the final, ultimate, move into the house I plan on dying in, so I'm looking forward to it.
there's only so much I can do in a "temporary" home(like I'm in now) I have "permission" to construct a large area of the future home into a
chameleon greenhouse", or gint sunroom. Since we're probably building it ourself, this should be loads of fun. I can be patient.
I've dreamed about getting my own home, and I did a little over 2 years ago. but it's not "final".
Put it this way: I want a BIG fish tank. Yet I can't justify getting one(even though I know the people from twin Oaks, who make $1 a gallon fish tanks). I refuse to move one of those things! Same for big chameleon setups. I'm just going to wait until my next big step is retirement. If things go as planned(and my wife is a planner by trade, so things ALWAYS go as planned)we should be building our final dream home on several acres in the mountains of NC within the next 4 years.
