Hide spots are necessary. I have two caves. (Ones an artificial one I bought at a rep show and the other is a terra cotta bowl that has a couple of holes busted out. They also have a log and some rocks to crawl under. Even with all that they still love to dig their own occasionally. Two days ago I put a new food bowl in their cage they hadn't seen before. Rather than coming over to eat the male ran over and immediately started digging a tunnel under it.
