Just wanted to share a happy-ending kind of true story. Last week I witnessed a Pick-up truck run over a pretty little 32" corn snake. I stopped to check out if it had indeed been hit - and it was hit in the head and neck. It was barely moving, and looked as if it was slowly dying. I gently picked it up and placed it in my car and told my 11 year old son who was with me that it didn't look good for the poor little GAL! There was blood coming out of her mouth one of her eyes was destroyed, and she was moving very erratically. I figured I might as well hold on to her, because I would feed her to one of my WC Kingsnakes if she died - so that way her loss wouldn't be a waste. After returning home I placed her into an Aquarium with some newspaper and a bowl of water. She seemed to be doing no worse then - but no better either. But at least the bleeding stopped. I decided to wait a night. The next morning I was expecting to see a rigid, dead snake, but instead I found a lively one-eyed little girl who was not ready to quit yet! That was last week! Today she ate a F/t fuzzy mouse and is doing extremely well. She has a small scar on her head, lost an eye, and has another bigger scar on her neck. But it has been a week now and I plan on breeding her in 2006! I thought that this was worth sharing. Not all snakes that get hit by cars die!!! And some NEVER QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray to the tough little 32" female corn snake!
