I think that is is bark from fir tree but not sure. Look and see if it says on the bag. Anyhow, fir is not supposed to be harmful to reps, but if it is the fumes you are still a little worried about, I would maybe try soaking it in hot water for a day and them letting it sun dry or just air it out a few days. Maybe that will get rid of some of the potency.
