Never tried it.

I don't see where it would be a problem, but there may be one drawback.

With the sphagnum moss mixed in it might be harder to see the crap for spot cleaning.

Give it a try. If it makes it harder to spot clean or tends to mold or something just go back to aspen only. If it works and makes it a little easier for them to burrow through and doesn't seem to be a problem cleaning then let us know.
