Is it worth it?

Ive got my one bairds wont eat anything but a gecko scented pinky. and now the pet shop i got the substrate from is using newspaper so i was wondering would it be worth it to get a gecko and keep it on aspen just to keep my bairds alive? i'm posting over in the gecko forum to see if it could stay in a small kritter keeper and what id need and how much theyd run and such...
