I would like to add, mantellas are nothing like Dendrobates. I've observed their behavior, and despite there are "parallel evolution" traits, dart frogs are totally different.
For one thing, the behavior of mantellas is more like that of their closer relative, the Ranidae. I have noticed that my mantellas are much more "frogs on a log" compared to the hyperactive dart frogs. My mantellas also will take prey much larger.
And here's something interesting. I have noticed my mantellas come out at night from their hiding spots and will perch...only after the lights go out. Also, they will even call in the middle of the night.......even as late as midnight, hahaha, I'm still awake by then......
