Your bairds have started changing and showing colors a lot since I had them. I like noticing the pattern change each time they shed. They develop a new skin under the one they are about to shed and it will have a little change in the pattern each time so it can make the transition from cross bars to 4 stripes. It's the only North American snake that will do this. Some obsoleta like yellow rat snakes will change from a pattern to stripes, but they do it by connecting a pattern that is almost ladder like and then fading out the internal pattern leaving stripes. Bairds are flighty as babies and will start slowing down as they go through sub adults into adults. Adult bairds are quite docile (there are a couple exceptions, but bairds are generally calm) and actually will move around on your arm and body as opposed to other snakes that will find a spot on you body to absorb the warmtn. I visited your website Paula. Congrats on your website and the snakes you and Nancy have been adding to both your collections. | ||
