You answered yourself for me. I would simply do just as you said post pictures, giving examples.



As for posting pics of a red but him looking yellow because of the substrate, why not spray them off for the picture? It's only dirt I would hope the dirt is not so caked on that it does not come off with a little water.



I always spray mine off before taking pictures, I prefer to take a picture of my animals over a picture of dirt.
