Ackies

i am looking into getting an ackie in about a month or so and have been reading up and researching them for about 2 months. i was just wondering (from personal experience ...all you ackie owners) are they people friendly? i know that they are very active but will i be able to take it out and mayb handle it with out it trying to bite my arm off? like let it run around the room and mayb into the backyard.
