breeding croc monitors

I have a five foot (head to tail) ?female? crocodile monitor and i was wondering if any one knew how big they had the be to breed. Also do males need to be larger than females. I've read that 1 3/4 feet SVL is large enough for female. Is there any way to sex them accuratly at this size.
