building a cage for 2 timor monitors

hello i have for a year now owned one (now fully grown) female timor monitor, i just bought a male and i would like to breed them, i built a cage that is 3' by 3' by 3', i was just wondering what might be the best substrate to use, and do u think one heat lamp is sufficient, or should i have 2
