When you go in for routine maintainance, open the cage and use a snakehook or something to let your snake know it is not feeding time. In time your snake will be conditioned to the idea that just because the cage is being opened, it does not mean feeding time.

Use a different routine to feed. The snakes will eventually key in on this.

If you are feeding burms or retics, you really dont want to feed them out of their enclosure.

You dont want to be handling a large dangerous snake when it is in a feeding mode.

Again...just use a different routine when feeding.
