Elevated Pheromone levels post shed ?

Just some thoughts and observations I have made over the years that I was interested in sharing:



Some python pairs when introduced seem to react more intimately after either of the pair have recently shed. I tested this again this season by introducing two python breitensteini (Borneo short-tails) together. They did the usual rough housing, but no observable copulations. The male went through a shed cycle roughly two-three weeks later and after the completed shed, began copulation immediately. I noticed this with ball pythons and boa constrictors as well. It may seem obvious to some of us that have successfully bred before, but I thought to share this info for the newbies into the breeding game.
