I will take a shot at answering your question, although I don't have any real answers. Heterodon and Lystrophis are not very closely related. So I would be skeptical to group them together as far as toxicity of venom.



I do not recall anybody reporting the effects of a tricolor bite on this forum, and I am willing to speculate that it probably is not as bad as any other colubrid. As with Heterodon, I would not let it be a determining factor if I wanted to pursue a captive breeding project with them.
