This is the first of several baby Sonoran Lyre Snakes that are hatching as we speak. This has been a project we've been working on for the last few years and finally our work has culminated in some little babies. To some of you, they might be "only" Lyre snakes but I have wanted to hatch these guys since I first got into breeding snakes more than 13 years ago.
The first four that are completely out of the egg are all between 3.8-4.1 grams. They are so tiny. It'll be a blast trying to get them to eat. My only goal for this clutch is to get at least a couple to feed so I can incorporate them into our pre-existing colony of 3.2. The mother of these babies is axanthic looking...no brown at all.
So now we'll have to see if someday we can prove it genetic or not. Anyway, I figured I'd share my happiness!
