keep it well hydrated, spray is several times a day very well. and you can sex them at about that size. both will have a slight ridge down the center of the spine. but the males will have a " spikey" ridge down the middle, it will go almost until the tail, then will have a small gap, and then will start off again.

females only have the crest on the head so if there is a noticeable pattern that breaks right around the tail and continues again then it is probably a male.
