Staggering color differences in father and son Panthers?

I was just wondering, based on the experiences of this esteemed community, if the offspring of a panther chameleon matches generally with the father, or do they tend to vary tremendously, even within the first generation? I ask because they are always showing off the father, but i've never seen any father/son pictures together...im assuming they look alike, but im not sure...
