bunnies for their meals. A male Salvadorii can reach a total lenght of twelve foot and more, females seven to nine foot including tail. These animals require enclosures that are 10'x10'x10' (bedroom sized). And yes they are extremely tempermental and not for the faint of heart.
If you have less than five years of constant monitor expierience my suggestion to you is don't get one. I have now owned two and have gotten very lucky that they were nicely tempered animals. But they are extremely smart. Problem solving smart. These guys are modern day Velocoraptors. They have bone crushing jaws, razor sharp teeth that mother nature has designed to cut through flesh and still hold it's prey, and very strong sharp claws that are used to climb trees and to eat with. Imagine that dropping down from a branch on top of you.
If I have scared or made you think twice about getting one, Good! That is exactly what I wanted to do but please don't get me wrong. I'm a huge advocate for this species as they are my favorite. Great people such as yourself buy these gorgeous creatures not realizing the dangers and risks and when they do (90% of the time its the hard way) the animal is dumped or euthanised. I do apologize if this sounds bad, especially on a first meeting. Good luck on your next monitor adventure!!! They are wonderful creatures, cherished and loved all over this world.
Merry Christmas too,
Christine
