That works well with the big scary ctenosaurs in costa rica....providing you dont get chewed on when you finally grab it off the pole. despite their size, they are very flighty and fast, impossible to sneak up on unless you have a big long noose. For the noose part, I use waxed dental floss, less tempramental while securing knots, and it also is easier on the animal's neck, especially with an animal like a ctenosaur, or monitor, in that they A. twist around and flail once you noose them, and B. are fairly heavy.
