Good points you've made here Shannon!
Nomoclenture in our hobby is tremendously abused and highly neglected. You've brought the Boa genetics forward as an example! With boa's, co-dominancy and simple recessive genes are throwing the identification out of whack. As an example, Salmon's are co-dominant. In the Sunglow project (Albino Salmon)the regular Salmon are all 100% Het-Albino, the great boa minds have decide these would be labelled Double-Het Sunglow, the proper terminology would/should of been Salmon Het-Albino...
To get back to hondurans, the breeders need to stick with the proper terminology, a Snow project regular Albino should be called an Albino Het-Anery and not an Albino Het-Snow, same goes for Ghost and Hybino project hondurans. Poor marketing strategies and misrepresentation at best when using such...
As for the Extreme Hypos, I can see where you are coming from with these, lots of dogs out there that will jump all over these, Would a picture ID from the breeder/producer be a feasable idea to insure proper representation once these Extreme start breeding into the other projects. Of couse these pictrure ID's would only be good if represented and backed up by a solid reputation such as yours? Just an idea I'm throwing out there!
I guess we will first need to iron out the genetic riddle with the Extreme Hypos and then work from there?
Anxiously waiting for further comments
All the best to everyone for 2005
