I thought this would be interesting for anyone wondering how designer projects (like the Creamsicle project) are started.
When selective breeding for a creamsicle project, it's obviously best to start with orange geckos with a lighter dorsal (fire/harlequin) pattern if you can. The lighter the dorsal pattern and the "oranger" the background color, the better.
What if you don't have a gecko that has orange coloration and a light fire pattern? Here's a little project I did here this year since I had a female that didn't fit into any of my other projects.
Here's dad, a pastel orange tiger...he's responsible for the orange coloration seen in a lot of my orange harlequins/fires.

Knowing his color is pretty potent, genetically speaking, I paired him up with this pretty basic chocolate/orange fire female.

Out of that pairing, I got several orange tiger babies and a couple tiger x fire babies like this one...

This one is only a few months old, so I don't know exactly how orange it will be and how white the dorsal pattern will be, but it looks like it's definitely going to be a good addition to my Creamsicle group. Even if it's not a true Creamsicle, I can pair it up with a similar gecko or even a true Creamsicle.
Plus, it's carrying the Tiger trait, so I could very well produce Creamsicle Tiger x Fires this coming year.
Anyway, that should give you all an idea of the kind of crap I think about on a daily basis. ----- ----------------------------------
