From what I hear, all three subspecies are about the same size. This page details some info about the species and gives the experiences of this owner:

"There are 3 main species of the False Water Cobra. The main differences in these are geographic region, and pattern and coloration. The 3 are virtually the same though, all in the same genus. Mine is a Hydrodynastes gigas. The other 2 are Hydrodynastes bicinctus and Hydrodynastes schultzi. There are no major differences in their care in captivity, or physiology, just color differences."
