Well, for a burm you'd need someone to spot/assist you when you do anything whatsoever with it after it gets half grown or so. Just for safety reasons.
If you go for either a burm or red tail, please consider adoption (good karma) 
Keep in mind your other non-boid/python snakey options too. There are the black and white california kings, the classic but pretty corn snake, massive pine, bulls and black rat snakes (8 ft sometimes), cute pudgy hognoses and so on. The Cal kings, black rat snakes and corns come in a variety of striking morphs. And with the exception of the occasional finicky hognose, the above recommendations are known to be pretty good feeders as well as pretty good tempered.
