The substrate is something called Bed-A-Beast. It comes as a brick and all you do is add water to it and it swells up and breaks apart into what you see in the pic. There are other companies that make it under different names but it's all the same stuff - ground up coconut fibers from the ouside of coconuts. I like it and have been using it for years. It supposedly won't cause impaction and I have never had a problem yet. It gives a nice look to any setup and holds moisture very well so you can soak 1/2 of the cage and it will keep the humidity up for days.---------RON | ||
