Hmm, I do see what you're saying.

I thought that in order to be a hybrid the parent stock had to differ on the species level and not just the subspecies level. I guess I'm mentally comparing it to milksnakes which are essentially all subspecies of lampropeltis triangulum complex. I know these are considered crosses (maybe that's the more correct word than intergrades) even though some may be reproductively isolated from each other in the wild. The carpets haven't been elevated to species level, or have they?? I think that was the point of the barker's bofo but I don't know if it ever became a reality.

In any case, good luck breeding this year!
