I "jump" or tap the flies out into a tall plastic deli-cup with a pinch of vitamins in it, whorl this around to coat the flies. When feeding, I put this an an angle and the flies will start to climb the lower side. As they do this, I sort of shake the container back and forth gently, so the excess powder falls back to the bottom, while the flies keep climbing to the edge, and as the flies reach the edge, tap them over the edge and into the tank. It's just a technique you can learn, but takes more patience than Josh's solution. I do the same as he does however, and rinse off the plants and substrate that any incidental powder begins to cover. As he says, if you can still see flies in the tank, you don't need to feed again and can skip a day. ----- Patty
