The wattage will effect the overall heat output, this will change both the basking and ambient temperatures. When using a lower wattage bulb the ambients will be greatly decreased. In order for it to still allow a high basking temperature you may need to place it closer to the basking area. Only flood bulbs should be used, you may use outdoor halogens or indoor incandescents. Some people use more then 1 bulb giving a bank of lights enlarging the basking surface. [ Hide Replies ]
