I'm pretty sure it goes like this - if the anal plate is divided it's elaphe/patherophis, if it is NOT divided it's lampropeltis. If I'm wrong then I think it's the other way around, but I've heard that you can distinguish the two that way. Hopefully someone who knows more about this than I do will chime in. | ||
