Bill,
Your concerns about leakage I consider valid but can not tell you firsthand as I use paper towels in all my current applications. However these cages are tooled to extremely precise tolerances with machinery I could never dream of affording and I would not be worried.
Something that goes along with your concern however is security. I personally would wholeheartedly suggest a solid body design such as neodesha for animals such as cobras.
There are practical applications for both systems and I am a big fan of neodesha and would never attempt to disway you from purchasing their cages on account of quality. They are top notch!
But, so our Animal Plastics. Animal Plastics cages and racks are built taking into consideration the needs and desires of hobbyists, because they are built by hobbyists. From the optional internal ceramic heat lamps (covered to prevent contact) to proper ventilation to the high quality locking doors, everything is built with the hobbyist in mind. These cages are flawlessly built, designed to make efficient use of available space, and I believe they are perfect at meeting just about any demand placed on them. Also, I have found that the material used in building these cages is lighter and sturdier than that of the competition.
More importantly, I believe Mark to be a standup guy. He is incredibly prompt in our contacts and both he and his staff have always polite. I have complete confidence in his willingness to go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction.
A customer of mine asked today about getting a custom design for the doors on the 6' cages, I still have to speak to Mark about this but I will not be expecting anything less than a positive response.
As for the racks, the heat cable works too well in some applications! When using belly heat especially, you absolutely must use a thermostat or a rheostat or you WILL fry your animals.
I am going to be selling these cages myself, and I have no doubt you will consider me biased because of it. But please believe that it's the reverse- I'm selling them because I love them.
If you have more questions I would be more than happy to answer them publically or privately. I hope this post made sense and I hope it did instill you with some confidence regarding Animal Plastics.
Be well ----- Steven Beckerman
