I've kept a so-called Pakistani Jewel (S.d.atricepts) for nearly 8 yrs. He's now close to 6 ft long & 3 lbs. Beautiful gloss black head, brick-red body with scattered black here 'n there & a pinkish tummy. A true eating-machine. Rats, big mice, frozen/thawed or live/stunned, in-shed or out. He's never refused a meal or bitten any humans but he really doesn't like being restrained by the neck- loose handling is fine. His only negative reaction is to hiss loud enough to be heard in the next room! Puts my 8-yr-old Texas Bull snake to shame! Truely a desert snake-in all that time, I've never seen him drink water from his pan or soak, but he always has 1-piece sheds. Now looking for the yellow & black varient, African I think. Anyone know of any?
