Use a lamp dimmer to contol the heat and you will be fine. Without temperature control, you can and will overheat. If you do not use a dimmer, at least raise the box above the heat pad (i.e. with wood strips) enough to avoid overheating.



Ball pythons need ample heat but do not like a hot spot in a cold cage. You must make sure the air temp in the rest of the cage is decent, say above 72 degrees.
