.. it's from Isla Blanca (not an island) north of PTO. Juarez and Punta Sam.. all private now, gated, with guards. (developed too).
The sand road right on the coast from just south of the Rio negro area going to PTO. Morelos was good for boas and the big geckoes until a few years ago.. to many people and too much trafffic!.. but I understand one of the unauthorised dumps is still there, I found boas there and a milksnake.
Just a couple of years ago the cuota (toll-road) inland was mostly deserted.. one-way traffic and right though great habitat.. fer-de-lance, boas, the common colubrids (like snail-eaters) great collecting if there's any rain. The federales don't like you turning around but if you can convince them you are just a crazy American, not avoiding the toll booths they'll let you be.
If you can get on to the road that runs along the water pipeline from near the airport exit you can see stuff too. They were restricting traffic last time i was there.
