I would back check the lineage of the parental stock. They would be most likely Sonoran. This trait is natural occuring, and was born into a few colonies simultaniously in Germany.

They have since been crossed with other locales of imperator. But they wouldn't be Costa Rican. If so, where did they come from, there is only one source to get Costa Ricans from Costa Rica. F1 from Zoocriadero, Grecia.
