How are you measuring temps?

Make sure that you are getting accurate temps where the snake spends his time. If you are using those stick on thermometer strips, you need to upgrade to either a digital or a temp gun and measure the temps on the bottom of the tank. In any case, I think that a basking spot in the high 80s is way too hot. And a hot corn is a cranky corn. Try lowering the hot side and see if it make a difference.
