Shedding Question

My corn - approximately 12-14 inches - has begun its first shed and it looks like it only shed from the face to midway through its body so far. It's been 4 days with no further shed activity. Is this normal? Should I do something to help the shed? And should I wait for the entire shed to finish before it eats again?
