I heat mine by running the tape down the back. I control the heat with a helix DBS-1000 and have no problems at all. It's a whole lot cheaper, heat tape and electricity wise! I heat all my racks this way, colubrids and boids. The helix makes things much easier vrs. the rheostat method.
