My corn snake has escaped from his cage (if my wife finds out I'm dead). The cage is in the basement so I presume he's still there.
>>Any tips on where/how to look? Any trips to use to lure him out of hiding?
>>Many thanks.
First of all don't panic. Your wife really won't kill you - just be paranoid and not sleep all night (but at least it's the basement). Depending on how long your snake has been gone you can try a few things. First look everywhere - up and around (they will climb) and into every spot you WOULDN'T think your corn can fit into. If it's a baby it could fit literally anywhere. Second, if you don't find him you can try sitting in the room tonight to try and see movement. You can put flour around the edges of the room so if the snake crosses the line you can tell which way he went. You can also put a water dish where you can watch it (usually around the edge of the room) and/or heat and a hide. Depending on when the last feeding and how big the snake is was you can always try the two liter bottle trick. Cut the two liter so that it will form a funnel if you invert the top. Put some food in there and hope your corn is hungry. Even if you don't find him soon don't give up. We lost two corns a while ago - found one almost a month later and are still looking for the other (four months later). I think there's another thread on this page as well with other ideas. Good luck and keep us updated.
