I just experienced this for the first time Tuesday night...

I was in the room when my female started to give birth so at the time I did not notice anything that strange. I removed the mother that night and just left the babies be. When I went in the next morning there was a very distinct smell, almost reminded me of when I worked in a butcher shop. Like very fresh cut meat. Not that unpleasant, but not spring flowers by any means.
