My Chilean rose that I had I called Shelob- from LoTR, the spider that attacks Frodo and Sam. I would give the crickets that I was feeding Shelob either Hobbit, Orc or Elf names as a little inside joke.

.... Okay Celegorn, time to introduce you to your date for the night, Shelob. Shelob, say hello to Celegorn, your dinner date...

Bernie and the kids called her Rosie. Really a nice tarantula, that is, if you weren't a cricket.

Speaking of inverts- I just heard that exotic mantids have been banned in the United states. Remember how I was hopping mad about not being able to keep phasmids? See, so it starts and spreads....
