The monitor forum is as good of a place to post this question as this forum. Possibly even better as there are many skilled cage builders who post over there but not here.



You can pretty much use any type of plywood you want. I don't recommend any solid wood or edge-glued wood for such a large cage so stick with plywood.



I personally like paying the bit extra for birch laminated plywood.

It has a super smooth finish on both sides that looks great and readily accepts any sort of finish. The type of finish is very important for Water Monitors as they are so destructive.



I would finish the inside of the cage with fiberglass resin or West Systems Epoxy or simply laminate Fiberglass Reinforced Panel onto the inside walls.



Regarding glass and doors, I'm not sure what types are strong enough for Water Monitors. That's a good question for the Monitor Forum. I would post it both there and on the appropriate subforum if there is one.
