Hello. I've had my Brazilian rainbow for 2 1/2 years and she has always been extremely healthy, a great eatter, and huge for her age (almost 7 feet the last time I measured her). I have the ambient (spelling?) temperature in her 100 gallon cage at 88 degrees f. with a hot spot between 90-95 f. She also has a fogger that keeps the humidity at about 85%. She ate on wednesday and was fine, then monday I looked in her cage, and she was drooling. I was like NOOOOOOO!! So I picked her up, she was blowing bubbles and I could feel the mucus build up in her when she breathed. I rushed her to the store I work at and treated her with septra orally, which I have had exellent success with. It is saterday and she is more active, but still is blowing bubbles. I took out her fogger, but I don't want to raise the temperature on her higher then what it is at. It is really dry in her tank, but she still has a big water dish she can get into. ANY WHOOO this is my question:
I have used septra and baytril on boas and pythons. They both have worked but I have heard that they are finding out that baytril may have long term effects on the reptile, and that if it is used more then once, like if you have a snake that is sick, you treat it how many times you need to, but if it gets sick again later using baytril again can seriously mess with the reptile (physically and pscologically). The septra I've used has worked quicker but I have not heard anything about any side effects. Does anyone know any?? And for my second question:
Why would my rainbow get sick? Like I said before I had her at 88-90 degrees with 85% humidity. Someone told me that I had too much humidity and that is what made her sick. Anyone have ever have simalar problems? I thought I was a great mom, so now I'm wicket bumming out because I got my baby sick. ANd my 3rd question:
It is true that if you feed a snake with a respritory infection, when they swallow, they get the infection in thier stomach and it can cause stomach rot?
